Kathy Francois has been chosen as this year’s Solon Beef Days Grand Marshal of the 2017 Celebration. Kathy’s involvement on the Beef Days Committee began in 1996, where she played a key role in coordinating the Beef Days parade through 2003. Her volunteer spirit then branched into other volunteer opportunities as Kathy also served as the treasurer for Solon Spotlight from 2004 to 2011.
Kathy was raised in Anamosa and graduated from Anamosa High School. While growing up, Kathy’s parents were active volunteers. As the leaders of many charitable groups in Anamosa, they provided an example in the value of volunteering for Kathy. Kathy and husband Patrick, were married in Solon and put down roots! They have raised 3 children who all graduated from Solon High School and have 2 granddaughters and a grandson is due in October.
